Obviously, you need the basics: food and water. Clothing. Shelter. Air. We all know those things, right?
But how much clothing do you need? How big does your housing really need to be? Is a microwave and a microwave oven necessary when you eat mostly raw or baked foods?
When I started thinking about it, I realize that I actually value experiences. And so do most people- we think that we find value in possessions, but we really find value in the experiences. Years later, we find smiles and laughter in thinking back, in the memories of your little brother falling into the fountain, not in the china urn you bought in a second hand shop that’s been sitting on the shelf for fifteen years. Those things can remind us of the experience, but at the end of the day, the experience- or the memory- is what matters.
So what do I actually use? I’ve narrowed it down:
At the end of the day, that’s not a lot-- at least compared to what I currently own. So I’ll be working on reducing those things as much as possible.
What do you really use?

- Clothing- mostly neutrals colors with a few soft blues, purples, and greens, as well as two pieces of sentimental jewelry (a ring and a necklace).
- Hygiene supplies: fem supplies, soap, shampoo 2-in-1, curling iron, heat protectant, towels, body lotion, lip balm, contact lense supplies, eyeliner & brush, foundation & brush, eyeshadow, mascara, lip gloss, razor, loofah, nail clippers, hair removal cream, tweezers, hairbrush, ponytail holders, bobby pins, hair clip, glasses, toothbrush, floss, toothpaste, mouthwash, whitening materials
- Soul supplies: journal and pens, candle, journaling bible and colored pencils
- Necessities: wallet, bible, phone, medications, school supplies (laptop and charger, paper, a binder, textbooks, pens, highlighters, and a calculator)
At the end of the day, that’s not a lot-- at least compared to what I currently own. So I’ll be working on reducing those things as much as possible.
What do you really use?
Keep it Simple,
